Job Description: | - Analyze, define and document database requirements for data storage, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems, auditing, reporting requirements and production configuration.
- Write and maintain functional and technical specifications
- Design and develop data models, database architecture, scripts and database jobs
- Document database design and structure using data flow diagrams, ER diagrams, etc.
- Devise automated or manual database test mechanisms including test data sets that will ensure that the design can meet functional and non-functional specifications
- Define hardware requirements (hardware sizing) by consulting software architects, data administrators and system users about the load on the system based on volume and frequency of data requests
- Construct, install and test the database system
- Train users and provide technical support
- Continually enhance existing databases, as user needs change
- Work independently or with the development team to assess the system performance and make modifications as required
- Analyze database code for problem resolution and performance optimizations.
- Prototype new applications to refine requirements.

Preferred Skills: | - 5 Plus years of experience with Oracle, Postgres-SQL or DB2
- Experience with very large databases and/or data warehousing
- Must be familiar with current version of Oracle (general database knowledge/experience), Advanced SQL and PL/SQL, Application development experience in an Oracle environment, Data Modeling/Relational Database Design
- Experience in implementing databases with a Java/JDBC client
- Experience creating and implementing physical databases from Logical Data Models
- Experience with data management, versioning of data, backups, etc
- Database optimization experience with Oracle DBMS and experience using database-monitoring tools
- Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner
- Some experience as an Oracle DBA is desirable
